An array of State government dignitaries, Rotary District 9141 Leaders and members, partners, and community leaders witnessed the new president’s installation ceremony.
The event was marked by an atmosphere of celebration and anticipation, with speeches, recognitions, and the unveiling of strategic initiatives to foster sustainable growth and positive change in Rivers State and Imo state.
In his inaugural address, the newly installed president, Dr Udo Onwere outlined his ambitious vision for the Royal Rotary Club of Port Harcourt Rebisi Kingdom.
He emphasized the club’s dedication to enhancing community welfare through strategic interventions and partnerships.
He said, “Our goals for the year are audacious yet achievable.”
He also revealed plans to renovate the Elekahia primary school and to build dormitory in the school.
“ We want to also organize a quiz competition in secondary schools within Port Harcourt and obio- Akpo local government area of the state.
“ The club is also building dormitory in Port Harcourt at the Omagwa Airport and it will cost 18 million naira.
Dr Onwere’s strategic vision includes several key initiatives to impact various community sectors significantly.
A cornerstone project is the provision of solar powered Borehole water for the Okehi people in Etche local government area in partnership with the King of Etche land, including a Medical outreach in Amachi community in Isialangwa North in partnership with Onwere foundation.
While ten widows of slain Police officers were financially empowered to boost their small scale business.
He said Rotarians have the power to change and transform lives for the betterment of the society through sustainable projects.
“The theme for 2024/2025 Rotary year is the Magic of Rotary.
“ This theme emphasizes the transformation power of Rotary international both in community and around the world.
“ I will make sure we create the magic of Rotary in our communities.
“ We will also plant trees in some government hospital, all the project will cost 66 million naira” he said.
Meanwhile the chief of staff Rivers state government House, Hon Edison Ehie appreciated the Rotary Club of Port Harcourt Rebisi Kingdom for the love and focus of the organization which he said stands for humanitarian services and safe contributions to the society.
He congratulated the 5th Royal president of Rotary Club of Port Harcourt Rebisi Kingdom Dr Udo Onwere for his generosity in supporting the club and his vision to lead the club.
Hon Ehie thanked the Rivers state House of Assembly speaker Hon Victor Oko- Jumbo for gracing the event.
The climax of the event include the induction of ten new members.
